Opiod Dependence is an addiction to prescription painkillers and heroin due to a change of chemistry in the brain. In Massachusetts people with opiate addicts are being treated with Medical Marijuana. Dr. Gary Witman of Canna Care Docs believes getting opiate addicts onto a non-addicting substance such as Marijuana will drastically solve the opiate addiction epidemic.
Dr. Witman has treated about 80 people who were addicted to opioids, anti anxiety meds and muscles relaxers with Cannabis. Dr. Witman believes that Cannabis is a far safer alternative for treating the symptoms the patients had before taking the opioids.
